About Me

About Me
IMG_7381.jpg

Welcome! I'm Phoebe (Masters of Counselling, BSc Psychology) and I am a professional counsellor based in Hong Kong. I have extensive experience supporting adults and adolescents in a range of therapeutic settings, including NGOs, private clinics, and international schools. I have supported people dealing with a broad spectrum of issues and challenges.

I am originally from the UK, and have spent the majority of my life living in busy, international cities. I understand first-hand the challenges commonly experienced by individuals and families living in urban, transient environments and find deep value and joy in assisting clients to move from a state of stress and uncertainty to one of flourishing and fulfilment.

I am a Full Member of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association and adhere to their ethical guidelines in my counselling work.

Is Counselling for You?
How Can I Help?

Perhaps life feels overwhelming and unsustainable and it is difficult to see a clear way forward.

You are feeling a little stuck, personally or professionally, and might benefit from some guidance to get back on track.

Whatever challenges you may currently be facing are worth your time and attention, and counselling could provide that helpful space for you to safely nurture and foster your emotional wellbeing.

Your mental health, how you think and what you feel, is likely to be impacting many different aspects of your life. Unhelpful thought patterns and emotional spiralling can contribute to negative behavioural patterns, and this can lead to strained relationships and ongoing discontentment

I believe it is never too late to take the time to invest in your mental health, and that there are invaluable benefits to be gained from developing self-awareness, better understanding personal values, goals, and relationships, and cultivating a practice of self-care.

My Approach

My Approach

I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. As each person I work with is unique, I use a combination of approaches, tailoring the therapeutic process to suit the individual. As a therapist, I am warm, sensitive, and collaborative, ensuring that my clients experience a comfortableaccepting, and authentic atmosphere throughout the counselling process.

In the first session, I will take time to listen and better understand your story and we will collaboratively outline a plan for further sessions. This will likely involve setting realistic goals, enabling us to track your progress and ensure we are focusing on issues that are of most importance for you.

Clients sometimes find that attending between 6-12 sessions enables them to make considerable progress and learn tools and concepts to help them in their daily life outside of sessions, though I do not place pressure on my clients to complete any particular number of sessions. I strive to work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

I practice according to ethical guidelines, as outlined by the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association, and meet regularly with an accredited supervisor to refine my skills and ensure I am providing the best possible support for my clients.
